WHAT IS KINESIO® TEX GOLD FP™?
FP stands for Finger Print, and represents the new adhesive technology that differentiates FP from other tapes. Dr. Kenzo Kase had envisioned a fingerprint-like adhesive pattern when he created the first KinesioTape over 30 years ago, but manufacturing methods at the time were not sophisticated enough to create it. Now incorporated into all Kinesio Tape FP products, the fingerprint pattern allows deeper penetration into the epidermis and underlying fascia for enhanced therapeutic benefits, said to mimic the gentle touch of human skin.

In addition, a higher grade cotton improves breathability and a new weave process enhances comfort. An advanced deep-set adhesive process provides better grip and longer wear-times with less adhesive surface area.

At the beginning, the concept was to have a tape that stimulated and mimicked the skin, along with certain tensions, elastic properties, and a medical adhesive that would adhere for days without irritation. The original concept encompassed a fingerprint pattern for grip, feel, and stimulation. “Moving with advances in technology,” explains Dr. Kase, “I was able to add the now famous wave pattern in the adhesive. This was our first attempt at replicating the fingerprint effect.” In the ensuing 25+ years, the traditional (Classic) wave and Kinesio® Tex Tape have been established as a premiere tool for therapists and doctors throughout the world.

Kinesio® continues to provide their famous classic wave design tape that has set the standard for Kinesio Taping® practitioners worldwide. From elite athletes and weekend warriors to neurological and paediatric patients, Kinesio® Tex Classic provides users with high quality and consistent results.


Kinesio Tape Classic is now Kinesio’s flagship consumer product. It utilizes the original wave pattern that has become known and loved the world over. Repackaged with a slightly smaller roll size and offered at a significantly lower price point, KinesioTape Classic is ideal for consumers and those new to KinesioTaping. Its lighter adhesive is hypoallergenic and latex-free, making it appropriate for all populations, including pediatric and geriatric skin-types.
